Top Five Attractions to Visit in London Review

Home of the historic British Empire, seat of Queen Elizabeth II and full to bursting with centuries of history, tradition and spectacle, London is one of the most exciting cities in the Western world.

Visitors are often astounded by the size of the city, stunned to find that not everything in the British Isles is quaint and diminutive. Unfortunately, many of these visitors find that they have failed to plan for the sheer wealth of attractions, running out of time before seeing everything they had planned to see.

With such a wide range of attractions spread over such a large city we thought it might be worthwhile to give you a breakdown of our favorite attractions in this great nation's capital city, helping you decide how to spend your time in London.

Below we have reviewed our top 5 London attractions. We picked them with specific criteria to fill. They must:

  • Be fun for everyone on your trip, from children to grandparents.
  • Teach you about the history of London
  • Show you the different areas of London
  • Offer great value for money

Our Top London Attraction

With these criteria in mind we set out and found our favorite attraction in London: the London Eye. The Eye was built to commemorate the millennium. It stands at a mind blowing 443 feet high (135 meters) making it the world's tallest observation wheel. The Eye has 32 capsules which takes passengers around in about 30 minutes. Situated on the banks of the River Thames opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben it offers unparalleled views of the City of London. At night the London Eye is illuminated, making it a beautiful addition to the London scenery.

The Eye offers sightseers a rare opportunity to escape from street level and view this majestic city from the sky. As your pod begins its stately journey to the apex of the wheel you'll see pleasure boats cruising the Thames, the nation's leaders buzzing around Whitehall and the slow countdown to the chiming of the world famous Big Ben just across the river.

This attraction definitely ticks all of the boxes of our criteria. At around £15 per adult (with discounts for children and seniors) it offers fantastic value for money. An incredible experience for all the family, a 'flight' on the Eye is guaranteed to live on fondly in your memories for years to come.

Of course you'll be wanting to head back to street level to explore the rest of the city following your flight, so here are the rest of our recommendations for your trip to London.
